Fall in love with orchestral music as we welcome the talent of the National Symphony Orchestra of Romania, in their U.S. tour debut Wednesday, January 16. The National Symphony Orchestra of Romania will honor the 100th anniversary of the unification of Romania and Transylvania in their first-ever tour to the United States, led by notable conductor Cristian Macelaru. Macelaru is a Romanian conductor that has performed regularly on the podium of the best American Orchestras. From the New York Philharmonic to the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Macelaru has made his mark in the conducting world and has recently been named the new Chief Conductor of the WDR Sinfonieorchester, one of Europe’s leading orchestras.
The National Symphony Orchestra of Romania is a renowned youth troupe of passionate and incredibly talented young artists from Romania. This Orchestra is acclaimed as one of the world’s top youth ensembles, and has made a name for itself in recent years as Romania’s best and brightest! The mission of the National Symphony Orchestra of Romania is to attract the brightest Romanian musicians between the ages of 18-35 to create a unique creative experience in the common pursuit of musical excellence!
In 2008 famed Romanian cellist Marin Cazacu founded the Romanian Youth Orchestra that soon became internationally famous in Europe. Within the next three years the Romanian Sinfonietta Orchestra and Junior Orchestra, all together formed the most important educational program in music orchestra named The National Romanian Youth Orchestras. The orchestra’s academic program strives to offer young musicians the opportunity to explore demanding repertoire through master classes and concerts, and more importantly, to participate in the joy of music-making under esteemed conductors such as Lawrence Foster, Kristjan Järvi, and Cristian Macelaru. Now, this accomplished youth orchestra is tasked with spreading the great musical pride of their country to the States as they debut their prodigious talent. Join us on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at State Theatre New Jersey to enjoy the young talent of the National Symphony Orchestra of Romania.
