On February 19, 2018, more then 4,000 people flocked to the 12th annual State Theatre New Jersey Family Day on Presidents Day. With a full day of activities spanning four venues, downtown New Brunswick was a alive with the sights and sounds of kids and their families having a great time.
Along with performances of the delightful Mr. Popper's Penguins at the State Theatre, there were performances at United Methodist Church by children’s performer Joannie Leeds and multi-talented instrumentalist KB Whirly. Across the street at the Heldrich Hotel, kids had hands-on fun with crafts, games, and dance and theater workshops and at directly next door at Mason Gross School of the arts, families enjoyed free face painting and balloon animals.
Among the other delights were a free photo booth, the New Brunswick Fire Department’s gleaming red engine, an ice sculpting demonstration, and costumed characters.
Nearly all of these amazing activities were free of charge, thanks in part to the generosity of Family Day Supporter The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey and Family Series Lead Sponsor Investors Bank.
