Tributary Poetry: Helping Students Find Their Poetic Voices

Professional Development Workshop with Glenis Redmond

  PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP FOR TEACHERS

Monday, MARCH 5, 2018 at 4:30PM

At State Theatre New Jersey

Workshop Length: 3 hours

In this hands-on workshop, teachers learn practical, proven strategies for developing students’ literacy skills by unlocking their imaginations and empowering them to write. State Theatre New Jersey poet-in-residence Glenis Redmond takes you through a step-by-step process that uses self-reflection—on family, heritage, and personal experiences—as the foundation for writing poems rich in detail and vivid imagery. She shares clear, simple poetic structures and formats, as well as a variety of writing prompts. The versatile ideas and techniques presented in the workshop are ideal for interdisciplinary teaching as well as language arts instruction.

For teachers of grades 6-12

This workshop takes place in the second floor lobby of State Theatre New Jersey. There is no elevator access to this space.
