On Saturday, May 12, 2018, State Theatre New Jersey celebrated yet another great year for the live performing arts in New Jersey at our 2018 Benefit Gala! The Grammy Award®-winning band and New Jersey’s own Kool & The Gang headlined this year’s event, performing from their catalog of hit songs including “Too Hot,” “Ladies Night,” “Jungle Boogie,” and “Celebration.”
At this year’s Gala we were pleased to present awards to three remarkable and incredibly deserving honorees who have done much to ensure State Theatre’s past, present, and future success. For her inspiring lifelong philanthropy, we presented the Leadership in the Arts Award to Betty Wold Johnson; the Corporate Award to Bank of America for its extraordinary commitment to arts and culture; and for their leadership, advocacy, and support of the State Theatre over the years, the Patron Award to Douglas and Diane Garback. We give our sincere thanks to each honoree for their role in promoting the significance of live performance and arts education in society.
Our annual Benefit Gala is the largest fundraiser we hold each season and the proceeds from this event support year-round arts education and outreach initiatives for our community, as well as incredible mainstage programming. This year’s Benefit Gala raised over $500,000, enabling us to continue providing these inspiring arts experiences. In addition to the exciting Kool & The Gang performance, guests who attended the full Gala event enjoyed dinner and a Viennese dessert buffet, a Silent Auction, a Wine Pull that featured “Wines from Around the World,” and dance music provided by The Jersey Joint.
And finally, a heartfelt thanks and immense gratitude goes to the entire Benefit Gala Committee, this year’s Corporate Co-Chairs American Benefits Consulting (Craig J. Guiffre, Executive Vice President & Managing Director) and MetLife (Timothy J. Brown, Senior Vice President, Life & Income Funding Solutions), and the State Theatre New Jersey Board of Trustees for their incredible support and dedication to making this event a wonderful success.
