East Coast R&B is taking over for One Night Only. Join us for an evening of love with Raheem DeVaughn and Vivian Green live at the State Theatre.

Raheem DeVaughn, the son of cellist Abdul Wadud, was born in Newark, NJ and raised in Washington, DC and Maryland. He is a Grammy® Award-nominee, BET Award-winner, singer, songwriter, and producer who has been recording music since 2005. He kicked his career into gear by performing at coffee houses and small clubs in DC.

Raheem was nominated for and won BETJ Virtual Awards for “Album of the Year” and “Artist of the Year” in 2008. He was also nominated for several Grammy® Awards in the categories of Best Male Vocalist (2008), Best R&B Song (2009), and Best R&B Album (2011).

In 2021, Raheem released his ninth studio album Lovesick (with Apollo Brown). He has been compared to Dwele, Van Hunt, D’Angelo, Marvin Gaye, Donny Hathaway, and Stevie Wonder. Raheem has described himself as a “R&B hippie neo-soul rock star,” a take on the difficulty media types have classifying him.

Vivian Green was born in Philadelphia, PA. She is a BET Award nominee, Lady of Soul Train Award-nominee, Soul Train Award-nominee, singer, songwriter, and pianist who has been recording music since 2001.

Vivian was nominated for the BET Award “Best R&B Female Artist” in 2003. She received three nominations for Lady of Soul Train Awards in the categories of “Best Solo R&B/Soul Single” (2003), “Best Solo R&B/Soul Album of the Year” (2003), and “Best Solo R&B/Soul or Rap New Artist” (2003). Branching out in a new direction, Vivian dabbled in acting. She had a small part in an episode of the TV drama American Dreams in April of 2003. She then played a part in De-Lovely, a film about the life of Cole Porter that was released in 2004, starring Kevin Kline and Ashley Judd. In the film, which was shot in London, she sang Billie Holiday's "Love for Sale." Green was also featured on the soundtrack.

In 2015, Vivian was nominated for a Soul Train Centric Certified Award during her fifth studio album.

She released her seventh studio album, Love Absolute, in 2020. Her songwriting credits include “Dear God” by Boyz II Men, from their 1997 album Evolution. Vivian received her big break at the age of 19 when she became a backup singer for Jill Scott, who took her on an international tour.
